Matt Munoz and senior
Ignacio Martinez scored one goal apiece early in the game and the Drew University men's soccer team won its Landmark Conference opener with a 2-1 victory at Goucher College Saturday afternoon.
Munoz put the Rangers (4-1-3, 1-0 LC) on the scoreboard in the ninth minute, converting off a corner kick before Martinez struck just over a minute later, sending in a long-range header off a cross from senior
Andrew Dunne. It was the second goal of the season for both Munoz and Martinez.
Drew blanked the Gophers (3-4-2, 0-1 LC) for the opening 61 minutes before surrendering an own goal. Goucher attempted a pair of potential game-tying headers down the stretch, but senior
Donovan Friedhoff saved both.
Drew outshot Goucher 12-10 for the game. Friedhoff made five saves, as did the Gophers' Dino Gesamondo.
The Rangers play their final non-conference game of the season on Wednesday, when they visit Immaculata University at 7 p.m.
