GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Drew University battled an opponent to five sets for the fifth this season but came up on the short end of a 3-2 loss in non-conference action Tuesday evening in a non-conference matchup at Arcadia University.
The Knights (11-4) won the opening set 25-17, but the Rangers came back to win the second and third sets, 25-16 and 25-17. However, Arcadia rallied to capture the final two sets, 25-23 and 15-5.
Freshman
Jessica Donnelly paced the Rangers with 15 kills and just three errors on 26 swings for a .462 hitting performance. Junior
Lindsey Millis added 11 kills and eight digs while senior
Victoria Latino contributed seven kills. Senior
Alyssa Rachwal handed out 25 assists, junior
Corletta Harrison contributed five blocks, and junior
Aidyn Stone posted 15 digs.
Regan Oursler led Arcadia with 18 kills.
The Knights jumped to a 9-4 lead in the first set and led by at least four the rest of the way. In the second set, it was 13-13 before the Rangers used a 7-1 run to break it open before closing on a 4-0 surge.
An early 5-0 run put Drew up 13-8 in the third set, and the Rangers put it out of reach with another 5-0 burst that made it 20-12.
The fourth set was the closest set of the match, and Drew led 17-15 following a 6-1 run. The Rangers carried a narrow lead all the way to 23-21, but that's when the hosts closed the set on a 4-0 spurt.
Arcadia pulled away early in the final set with a 6-0 run that made it 10-3 and outscored the Rangers 11-2 to finish the match.
