Despite a two goal comeback, Drew women's soccer was unable to pull themselves out of a deep early hole in a 3-2 loss to host Centenary at the 2009 Cyclone Classic. Emily Weida and Michelle Malone scored for the Rangers in the second half, but three goals from the Cyclones in the first 23 minutes of play doomed Drew. The loss is the Rangers' first of the year after a win and a draw.

The Cyclones built a 3-0 lead after just 23 minutes of play. Sam Vanni scored an unassisted goal in the fifth minute of play before Jazmine Farrell added the next two in the span of 120 seconds after twenty minutes.

Down 3-0 at halftime, the Rangers began to claw their way back into the match. Just two minutes after the restart, Emily Weida grabbed her first goal of the season. The sophomore pounced on a failed clearance to knock in from close range. Drew continued to pile on the pressure, recording four of the game's next five shots. The fifth in that stretch pulled Drew to within one. Senior Kim Miranowic's free kick cannoned off the post. First-year midfielder Michelle Malone was first on the scene to slot in the rebound in the 67th minute.

The Rangers finished the game swarming the Cyclone net. Allison McCord's shot sailed wide before Christine Meconi and Abby Dingle drew saves out of Ashley Denti. With just seconds left Meconi again tested Denti, but without result as Centenary ran out fortunate victors.
