Rangers Take Over Second Place With Win

Box Score
MADISON, N.J. (October16, 2010) – The Rangers picked up their third straight win over Juniata College this afternoon with a decisive, 3-1 victory. The well balanced Ranger offense outshot the Eagles 21-8 on the afternoon.

With the win, Drew (8-5-1, 3-1 Landmark) is now in sole possession of third place setting up the battle for second place next Saturday against Catholic University. The Rangers took control of the game early with a nice combination by Liz Loiodice (Forest Hill, Md./John Carroll) and Emily Weida (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Country Day). Loidice made a nice move to free herself from a Eagle defender and crossed it right to Weida's foot, who then one timed it past the keeper.

The Rangers would add another goal before the half when Kristin Blake (East Hanover, N.J./Hanover Park) came up with a loose ball in front of the net for her first goal of the season.

Early in the second half, goalkeeper Kim Jaikisson (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) recorded her second save of the day. She surpassed a career milestone by recording her 100th career save in just two seasons in Madison.

The Eagles would begin to mount a comeback when they pulled within a goal in the 74th minute. Juniata (8-6, 2-2 Landmark) had a total of five shots in the second half, two more than the first half. The Rangers would hold them off and add one more goal to put the game away.

Christine Meconi (Brooklyn, N.Y./Midwood) was able to find Loidice with a little under eight minutes to go in the contest for the game's final goal. Loidice finished with her fifth goal of the year along with her third assist.

The Rangers play in the second of their three game homestand on Wednesday, October, 20th at 4:30 against William Paterson. The game will mark the first annual Breast Cancer Awareness game. Donation information can be found at www.drewrangers.com/drewcares .
