SCRANTON, Pa. (October 9, 2010) - The Royals broke a scoreless tie in the 84th minute on a the first goal of the season by sophomore Sydney Parker and went on to defeat the Rangers 2-0.

Drew (7-5, 2-1 Landmark) dropped their first Landmark Conference match of the 2010 season. The loss drops the Rangers into second place tie while Scranton (9-4, 2-0 Landmark) moves into a tie with Catholic for first place.

On the game's first goal, Scrantons Chelsea Paskman fired a shot that was saved by
Kim Jaikisson (Columbia, N.J./Columbia) but the rebound fell right to the foot of Parker who converted the gamewinner. Jaikisson made a season-high nine saves on the day.

Paskman would have a hand in the Royals second goal just three minutes later as she found Samanth Russo who blasted a shot from inside the 15 to put Scranton up 2-0.

The Rangers surrendered a season-high 29 shots and only got off 11 of their own.
The 29 shots is the most by a Drew opponent since the 32 put up by Stevens on September 24, 2005.

Both teams managed only five corner kicks in the game with none of them leading to scores. After defeating the Royals a year ago in Madison, the Royals now hold a 3-1 series advantage since entering the Landmark.

The Rangers will return to action on Wednesday when they take on SUNY-New Paltz on Wednesday at 4:00 PM.
