MADISON, N.J. (March 24, 2010) – After keeping pace with #5 The College of New Jersey just two days ago, the Rangers lose 15-5 to #11 Colby this afternoon in Ranger Stadium. Colby improves to 4-0 on the season while Drew now sits at 2-5. Senior Amy Campbell scored five goals for the Mules with three of them coming in the second half. Ranger leading scorer Stacie Brown (Upper Marlboro, Md. /Calverton) had two goals bringing her season total up to 12.
Drew jumped ahead 1-0 in the opening minutes of the game on a goal from Cara Jeffries (Central Square, N.Y./Paul V More), her tenth of the year and only goal of the game. The Mules would come back and score a little over a minute later on Campbell's first goal of the game. Colby's Kathleen Kramer would get the go ahead goal 4:01 into the game but the Ranger's Brown answered with her first goal of the contest to tie the game back up.
Seven minutes into the half a slashing Casey Thomas received a pass from Claire Donegan for the go-ahead goal. Colby would not trail for the rest of the contest and score eight of the next nine goals to open up an 11-3 advantage 13 minutes into the second half.
Lyndsay Rossi (Pennington, N.J./Pennington School) and Sloan Coles (The Plains, Va./Foxcroft School) found the back of the net for the two second half Ranger goals.
Net-minder Rachel Hanley (Randolph, N.J/Randolph) faced 38 shots and made 15 saves on the day for the Rangers. Drew struggled again on free position shots going 1-4 in the contest.
Drew will go on the road to take on Wellesley at 1:00 on Saturday. The Rangers return home Saturday April 3 to host Rowan at noon.
