Rangers Drop First Conference Game, 15-4
WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 10, 2010) – The Rangers opened up their Landmark Conference schedule this afternoon against the defending champions, Catholic. The rematch of the 2009 conference championship game ended in a similar result and Drew is now 1-2 in regular season play against the Cardinals.
Catholic (5-5, 1-0 Landmark) came out firing and scored 10 goals in the first half on 21 shots. Drew's
Staci Brown (Upper Marlboro, Md./Calverton School) scored the game's first goal 2:56 into the contest when she converted on a pass from
Lyndsay Rossi (Pennington, N.J/Pennington School) to put the Rangers up 1-0.
That would be the only lead of the day for Drew (5-7, 0-1 Landmark) as the Cardinals strung together the next nine goals before
Sloane Coles (The Plains, Va./Foxcroft School) ended the Ranger scoring drought on a free position shot with 5:52 remaining in the half.
Catholic would add five more goals in the second half and put the game out of reach. Catholic's Mary Swarthout tallied six points on the day, five of them being goals.
Yasmin Baldini (Milton, Mass./Milton) scored her first goal of the season and
Sloane Coles added a second half goal to round off the scoring for the Rangers.
The Rangers will travel to Bethlehem on Wednesday to take on Moravian at 4:00
