MADISON, N.J. (April 24, 2010)- Drew University midfielder Lyndsay Rossi (Pennington, N.J./Pennington School) scored five goals in the Rangers 17-6 Landmark Conference victory of the Scranton Royals Saturday afternoon in Madison. The Rangers out-shot the Royals 36-14 improving their record to 8-7, 3-1 in conference while Scranton fell to 6-8, 1-3 in the Landmark.

Junior midfielder Cara Jeffries (Central Square, N.Y./Paul V. Moore) netted her 22nd goal of the season in the game's opening seconds and the Rangers never looked back. The Ranger offense poured on 11 more goals in the first period to take a 12-4 lead into halftime. In the backfield the Drew defenders allowed Scranton just seven shots.

Jefferies would score twice in the first, fellow junior Stacie Brown (Upper Malboro, Md./Calverton School) also notched two for the Rangers' attack. The Ranger juniors steamrolled the Royals' defense, with three goals from Sloane Coles (The Plains, Va./Foxcroft School) and two from Emily Mastella (Catonsville, Md./The Institute of Notre Dame) the soon to be seniors allotted for 10 of the 12 scores in the first period.

First year Jaclyn Sayers (Roselands, N.J./West Essex) scored the first goal of her career in the Green and Blue.

Caroline Pryor put the Royals on the scoreboard with her 27th goal of the season but Scranton was already down 6-1. Pryor would finish the day with two goals for the sluggish Royal offense who couldn't seem to get anything going against the Rangers. The Rangers' defense did not allow any consecutive scores to the Royals.

The offense kept on cruising in the second period, behind Coles, the Rangers dominated draw controls 18-5. Rossi would score four of the five Ranger goals in the second.

Sophomore keeper Rachel Hanley (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) recorded nine saves on the day, seven in the second period. Hanley's record improved to 8-7 on the year.

For the Royals, Leslie Connelly finished with two goals. Cassie Murphy and Kathleen Smart split time in the net, Murphy made four saves but took the loss falling to 11-9 on the year.

Next up for the Rangers are the Susquehanna Crusaders who they take on next Saturday May 1st in Ranger Stadium at 3:00pm.
