Women's Tennis Finishes Season Undefeated Conference Play
BETHLEHEM, Pa. (May 1, 2010) – The Women's tennis team took home their first ever Landmark Conference Regular season crown this afternoon after they defeated Moravian, 7-2. The women took the conference by storm and have now won seven consecutive matches.
Drew (10-3, 6-0 Landmark) will not only compete in their first ever Landmark Conference playoffs but have earned the home-court advantage in both rounds. The women will square off against Susquehanna on Tuesday in Madison at a time yet to be determined. Earlier in the year the Rangers squeaked out a 5-4 victory over the Crusaders.
Vivian Peng (Piscataway, N.J./Boca Raton Community), playing in her first match since April 10, picked up right where she left off as she captured a win in number one doubles with
Sarit Ashkenazi (Kingston, Jamaica/Immaculate Conception) and defeated Jami Fein in straight sets.
The Rangers came out of doubles with a two one lead and after Chelsea Ott of Moravian winning the first singles match to even the score at 2-2. Drew would win the final four singles matches to clinch its first ever undefeated Landmark season. The clinching match belonged to
Chelsea Lipp (Old Lyme, Conn./Old Lyme) at number five singles. She defeated Ales Van Buskirk 6-2, 6-3 for her seventh straight singles win.
