Rangers Take Conference Opener

Box Score
MADISON, N.J. (September 25, 2010) - Since entering the Landmark Conference in 2007, Moravian(2-5-2, 0-1 Landmark) has had Drew's number, but today the Rangers made their mark.  Drew left no doubt as they shut out the Moravian Greyhounds in the Conference Opener this afternoon, 2-0.

The Rangers came out to play from the very first whistle. Dominating offensively most of the game, Drew (5-3, 1-0 Landmark) outshot the Greyhounds 18 - 7 on the contest. Ten of the Rangers shots came in the first half, five which landed on goal and in the 28th minute they were able to find the back of the net. Emily Weida (Lancaster Pa. / Lancaster Country Day) took a shot that was swatted away by the goaltender, but Liz Loiodice (Forest Hill, Md. / John Carroll) was there to grab the bouncing ball and tap it into the lower right corner.

Only six minutes into the second half, Christine Meconi (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Midwood) added some insurance and put the game out of reach for the Greyhounds. Moravian's goalkeeper could not get a good hold on the ball and Meconi quickly attacked the fumble putting home the final goal of the afternoon.

In goal for the Rangers, Kim Jaikisson (Maplewood, N.J. / Columbia) had five saves on the day and recorded her second shutout of the season.

Women's soccer returns to action this Wednesday, September 29th at 5 p.m. when they take on Stevens Tech.
