Madison Ave Claimed by Rangers

O'Keefe recorded three points on the evening.
Box Score MADISON, N.J. (October 26, 2011) – Not the high scoring affair that Fairleigh Dickinson (7-11-1) and Drew (8-9) are accustomed to, but it was the Rangers who scored the only two goals in a 2-0 victory over their cross-street rivals this evening at Ranger Stadium.

The Rangers claimed their third victory over the Devils in the last two seasons. Last year the two teams met twice, once in the regular season and again in the ECAC semifinals with Drew taking both games by a combined score of 6-3.

Both of the game's goals came in the final 45 minutes of play with the first coming just 3:31 into the second half. Senior Christine Meconi (Brooklyn, N.Y./Midwood) unselfishly found Katie O'Keefe (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) near the six yard box. Meconi kept up her Landmark Conference lead in points, upping her total to 25 on the year.

O'Keefe helped close the Devils out with under three minutes to play in the game when she sent a beautiful cross to the middle of the box that sophomore Liz Loidice (Forest Hill, Md./John Carroll) sent into the back of the net. O'Keefe and Meconi came into the game tied for the league lead with six assists a piece and remain tied with seven after tonight's game.

The one-goal lead was all the Ranger defense and goalkeeper Agata Dera (Wallington, N.J./Wallington) needed as the sophomore made two saves in her first career shutout.

The Rangers will look forward to this Saturday when they face a must-win situation against Catholic to get into the Landmark Conference playoffs. The Rangers will travel to Washington, D.C. on Saturday in a 3:30 p.m. matchup with the second-place Cardinals.
