Red Hawks Soar Past Rangers

MONTCLAIR, N.J. (November 11, 2011) – The Drew women's swim team fell to Montclair State (2-2) 107-83 this evening on the road. The Rangers dropped their second meet of the season and are now 0-2 on the year.

A bright spot for the Rangers was sophomore Mariel Schwinger (Los Angeles, Calif./Sherman Oaks) who won the 200 freestyle in convincing fashion. Her time of 2:04.97 was 11 seconds better than any other swimmer in the race. Her time was the fastest so far this season and eight seconds off her lifetime best.

The Rangers turned in a handful of second place finishes beginning with 200 Medley. Sophomore Jordan Bader (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside), Alexa Morrissey (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall Academy), Jackie King (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) and Schwinger finished second with a a time of 2:04.27, the fastest time of the young season.

Morrissey was out-touched in the 50 freestyle and posted a season-best time of 26.60. Bader followed up with second place finish in the 400 individual medley with a time of 5:14.85.

The Rangers will be back in F.M. Kirby Pool on Wednesday when they welcome in Mount St. Mary's. The meet is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
