Box Score
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (November 30, 2011) – Vassar (4-0) outscored the Rangers by 20 points in the second half for a 70-42 win over Drew (2-3) this afternoon. The 42-point output by the Rangers was the lowest of the season as they shot only 29 percent from the field on the night.

Three players were in double figures for the Brewers, led by Brittany Parks who scored 18 points. Vassar forward Colleen O'Connell owned the boards as she hauled in 16 rebounds including 13 on the defensive end. Danielle Barber (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Twp.) highlighted the Ranger offense with 10 points.

The first half saw four ties in the first four minutes of play but the Rangers could not capture the lead from the Brewers who never trailed. Back-to-back 3-pointers by Cydni Matsuoka sparked a 12-2 run beginning at the 11:24 mark to give the Brewers their largest lead of the half. The Rangers scored the last three points of the frame and the halftime horn sounded with Vassar holding a 33-25 advantage.

The Brewers benefited from a poor shooting Ranger squad that went 7-of-36 from the field in the final 20 minutes. Over the course of the game, Drew was unable to convert from the 3-point line, combining for an 0-for-14 effort from beyond the arc.

The second half lead for the Brewers remained between the eight and 12-point margin until the final five minutes of the game. A pair of free throws by Barber would be the only two points in the last 5:36 for the Rangers.

Parks scored 12 of her 18 points in the final period, going 7-for-16 from the field for the game. The Brewers owned the glass, holding a 43-34 advantage in rebounds.

The Rangers will look to bounce back on Saturday when they open up their Landmark Conference schedule against Merchant Marine in Kings Point, N.Y. The women will follow the men at 4:00 p.m. in the second half of the Landmark doubleheader.
