First Half Deficit Too Much For Rangers

First Half Deficit Too Much For Rangers

Box Score
HOBOKEN, N.J. (March 23, 2011) - The Rangers held a 3-2 lead 10 minutes into the contest but could not hold on as Stevens scored nine consecutive goals in the first half of play to help them come away with the 13-5 victory. The ninth ranked Ducks improve to 4-1 on the year and the Rangers fall to 3-4.

The first minute of play saw two goals, beginning with Stevens' Jenna Scheibling's first goal of the afternoon only 19 seconds into the game. Drew responded only 10 ticks later with an unassisted goal by senior Stacie Brown (Upper Marlboro, Md./The Calverton School). Brown struck again at the 23:54 mark with her 17th goal of season off a free position shot. The goal was Brown's 176th of her career, ranking her fifth all-time among Drew goal scorers.

The Ducks tied the game back up with 15:19 to play on a goal from Pamela Loria. Once again the Rangers quickly responded. Less than two minutes later, Lyndsay Rossi (Pennington, N.J./Pennington School) found Lindsay Fry (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Morristown Beard) to recapture the lead at 3-2.

From that point forward it was all Stevens. The Ducks rattled off nine goals in a seven minute span to take a commanding 11-3 lead. After a Rossi goal with 17 seconds left in the half, the Ducks held a seven goal advantage at the half.

The offensive fireworks subsided in the second half as both teams would combine for only three more goals. Brook Connell (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank Regional) would be the recipient of a Fry pass for the lone second half goal for the Rangers.

Drew's schedule will not get any easier as they will prepare for a bout with the nation's third ranked team, TCNJ, on Saturday. The game is scheduled for 1:00 in Ewing, N.J.
