Cardinals Soar Past Rangers

WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 9, 2011) Catholic (12-5, 2-1 Landmark) handed Drew (3-6, 1-2 Landmark) their second conference loss of the season with a 6-3 victory over the Rangers this afternoon. The Cardinals now sit in fourth place, bumping the Rangers down to fifth in the Landmark standings.
After gettting an 8-2 win at number one doubles from
Chelsea Lipp (Old Lyme, Conn./Old Lyme) and
Sofia Madigral (San Jose, Costa Rica/Pan American School), the Rangers dropped both number two and three doubles, going down 2-1.
Catholic sealed the victory with straight-set wins in at the four, five and six positions.
Sarit Ashkenazi (Hafia, Israel/Immaculate Conception) won her fifth number one singles match in a row over
Marjorie Selinger, 6-1, 6-1. The Rangers would get their third win at number three singles where Lipp cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Elaina Sceusa.
The Rangers will look to bounce back when they take on Hunter College on Wednesday. The match time is set for 1:00 PM in Madison at the Drew Tennis Center.
