Rangers Ground Hawks, 8-1

MADISON, N.J. (April 14, 2011) – Women's tennis picked up their fourth win of the season this afternoon with an 8-1 victory over Hunter College (15-5). The Rangers won all six singles matches and went 2-1 in doubles play to improve to 4-6 on the year.
The Rangers got straight-set victories from their top three singles players. Senior 
Sarit Ashkenzai (Haifa, Israel/Immaculate Conception) won her fifth-straight match at number one singles by defeating Jennifer Kraham, 6-3, 6-2.  Ashkenazi also registered an 8-2 doubles win at the number two position with partner 
Erica Fredrickson (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Savior High).
Chelsea Lipp (Old Lyme, Conn./Old Lyme) and 
Sofia Madrigal (San Jose, Costa Rica/Pan American School) also registered straight-set victories in number two and three singles, respectively. The duo teamed up earlier to edge the Hawks, 8-6 in number one doubles. The pair improves to a perfect 3-0 on the season.
Cristine Conde (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) and 
Rebecca Olderman (Chreshire, Conn./Hamden Hall) rounded out the Drew scoring winning their matches handily. The senior, Conde, defeated Alisa Jaganjac, 6-2, 6-2 at number five singles while Olderman cruised past Angleiq Petropouleas 6-2, 6-0 at the six slot.
The Rangers will be back in action this weekend when they travel to Susquehanna on Saturday afternoon. The Landmark Conference match will be played indoors in Williamsport, Pa. at the West Branch Tennis Club at 1:00 PM
