Rangers Bury Gophers for First Landmark Win

Box Score
MADISON, N.J. (April 16, 2011) – Playing in their final Landmark home game of the season, the Rangers were able to come up with a 12-7 victory over Goucher (5-7, 0-3 Landmark) on Senior Day. Stacie Brown (Upper Marlboro, Md./The Calverton School) and Brook Connell (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank Regional) had three goals each to help the Rangers improve to 6-7 on the year.

Drew (6-7, 1-1 Landmark) never trailed in the contest and jumped out to 2-0 lead on Connell's seventh goal of the year and senior Emily Mastella's (Catonsville, Md. /Institute of Notre Dame) second of the season. The Rangers, like most teams this season, had trouble containing Landmark leading scorer, Hannah Khin. She scored a two of her four goals in the first half of play, keeping the Gophers in the game.

Brown, who is fifth in the conference in scoring, rattled off three consecutive goals midway through and recorded her seventh hat trick of the season. Sloane Coles (The Plains, Va./Foxcroft) and Becca Schild (Princeton, N.J./Princeton) added the final two goals of the first half to give the Rangers a 7-3 advantage at the break.

The Rangers offense was able to keep pace in the second half of play, outscoring the Gophers 5-4. Connell had two of her three goals in the final 30 minutes and added her only assist of the game on Schild's second early in the first half.

Starting in her 44th-straight game in goal, senior Rachel Hanley (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) made 12 saves in 60 minutes of action to pick up her seventh win of the year.

The Rangers will be home for a non-conference bout on Tuesday against cross-street rival, Fairleigh Dickinson. Game time is set for 7:00 PM in Ranger Stadium.
