Connell Nets Four, Rangers Move into Second Place

SCRANTON, Pa. (April 21, 2011) – The Rangers scored 10 second-half goals and improved to 2-1 in conference play with a 15-6 road win over Scranton (9-4, 2-1 Landmark) this evening. Senior Brook Connell (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank Regional) matched a career-high with four goals in the win.

Drew (8-7, 2-1 Landmark) is now tied for second place with the Royals and with a win over Susquehanna next week can clinch the second seed in the upcoming Landmark Conference playoffs for the second-straight year.

The Rangers were caught in a back and forth battle in the first half as the two teams went goal-for-goal in the first five minutes of play. Drew never trailed and after the Royals tied the game back up at two with 25:26 remaining in the half, did not look back. The Drew defense surrendered only three goals in both halves while the offense exploded for a season-high 10 second-half goals.

Aileen Musynske (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park Memorial) was all over the field for the Rangers and had a hand in three of the five first half goals. She finished the day with her second hat trick of the season to go along with two assists, three ground balls and a draw control.

To start off the second period of play, the Rangers rattled off seven of the first eight goals including two from Musynske. Senior midfielder Emily Mastella (Catonsville, Md./Institute of Notre Dame) added two scores on three shots including the only Rangers free position conversion.

Stacie Brown (Upper Marlboro, Md./The Calverton School) matched Musynske with two assists and scored her team-leading 36th goal of the year.

The Rangers matched heir season-opponent-low, allowing only six goals. Goalkeeper Rachel Hanley (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) make 14 saves to earn her eighth win of the spring. The win marked the fourth-straight over the Royals, as Drew remains unbeaten against Scranton since entering the Landmark.

Drew will play their final regular season home game on Tuesday when they host Union College at 7:00 PM in Ranger Stadium.
