Greyhounds Best Rangers in Season Finale

MADISON, N.J. (April 25, 2011) – Although the result wasn't what the Rangers were looking for in their season finale, the weather finally cooperated in northern New Jersey and served up a beautiful afternoon for tennis. The Rangers would fall in the final match of the season to Moravian, 7-2.
Both squads began the day with two tightly contested doubles matches that could have went either way. Moravian (8-6, 5-1 Landmark) captured number one doubles as the duo of
Sarit Ashkenazi (Haifa, Israel/Immaculate Conception) and Sofia Madigral (San Jose, Costa Rica/Pan-American School) fell to Chelsea Ott and Kerry McKinley, 9-7.
Drew (4-9, 1-5 Landmark) was able to salvage a win in number two doubles in another nail biter.
Erica Fredrickson (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Savior High) and
Cristine Conde(North Bergen ,N.J./North Bergen) squeaked by Elizabeth Endy and Stephanie Cox, 9-7.
The Greyhounds pulled out an 8-0 shutout at number three doubles to take a 2-1 advantage into singles play. The Rangers only other win on the day came in number two singles, where Madigral came back after losing the first set 6-0 to defeat McKinley 6-4 in the second set and 10-5 in the tiebreaker.
Moravian will go into the Landmark Conference Playoffs as the number two seed and take on Catholic in the Semifinals on Wednesday.
