Rangers Score Season-high 19, Secure Second Seed

SELINSGROVE, Pa. (April 30, 2011) – The Rangers will enter the 2011 Landmark Conference Playoffs as the second seed for the second-straight season with a 21-11 road win over Susquehanna (7-8, 0-4 Landmark) this afternoon. With the win the Rangers will host Scranton on Wednesday for an opportunity to play in the Landmark Championship.
Drew (10-7, 3-1 Landmark) never trailed and opened the game with nine of the first 10 goals. After a free position shot by
Jess Johnson (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown Senior) the Rangers found themselves up 9-1 with 5:36 remaining in the first half.
The Crusaders gave their best chance at a comeback and rattled off the next five goals to pull within three goals early in the second half. The Ranger offense countered and scored a season-high 12 goals in the second half to earn their sixth-straight victory.
Cara Jeffries (Central Square, N.Y./Paul V More) had a career day, scoring five goals and dished off three assists. The eight-point effort was the most since
Stacie Brown (Upper Marlboro, Md./The Calverton School) netted eight goals and an assist in a loss to Bowdoin in 2009.
Brown put together one of her finer games of the 2011 season, netting four goals and dishing off two assists. The senior moved into fifth place all-time with 261 points and remains third in career goals with 204.
Brooke Connell (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank Regional) and
Sloane Coles (The Plains, Va./Foxcroft School) had hat tricks in the Landmark win. Connell has been one of the Rangers most consistent contributors over the past few games, registering 16 points over her last five games.
On the defensive end
Rachel Hanley (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) made five saves while the Ranger back line forced 22 Crusader turnovers.
Jasmine Cordi-Miller (Whippany, N.J./Whippany Park) had a team-high three caused turnovers to go along with four ground balls.
The Rangers will square off for the second time this season against Scranton on Wednesday at a time to be determined. The Rangers took the first meeting with the Royals on April 21 at Scranton.
