Roadrunners Edge Rangers for First Win

MADISON, N.J. (September 11, 2011) - Ramapo (1-2) netted a early second-half goal to defeat the Rangers, 1-0 in the final game of the Drew Fall Fest this afternoon. Drew (0-4) outshot the Roadrunners 25-13 in the contest.  

The stalemate would turn in favor of Ramapo in the 50th minute when Katie Popowych tipped in a pass from Rebecca Macia for the eventual gamewinner. Ranger goalkeeper Jeramie Barletta (Madison, N.J./Madison) played all 90 minutes and turned away five shots in the loss. Her counterpart Taila Auslin made 12 saves and kept the Rangers off the scoreboard for the second time in two days.

The Rangers had a number of opportunities just miss throughout the game. In the first half Meconi (Brooklyn, N.Y./Midwood) rang a ball off the crossbar and in the 84th minute Katie O'Keefe (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) had her shot ding of the post.

The Rangers will face their third NCSAA Top 25 team in five games when they travel down to Ewing, N.J. to take on #25 The College of New Jersey on Thursday night at 7:30. The two teams played a tight game in the season opener of 2010 when the Lions escaped with a 1-0 victory in Madison.
