Box Score Three First-Half Goals Propel Ducks Over Rangers
HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 28, 2011) – Stevens (5-3-2) used a first-half onslaught to defeat the Rangers 3-0 earlier this evening at De Baun Athletic Complex. The loss is the fifth-straight against the Ducks and drops the Rangers to 2-7 on the year.
Ducks forward Ann Heine gave the home team a quick 2-0 lead with two goals in just 10 minutes of play. The freshman broke a scoreless tie in the fifth minute, converting a cross from Kathleen Shuckers for her first score of the night. A little over four minutes later the Rangers found themselves down two scores as Heine found the back of the net for a second time off a pass from Caitlyn LeBonte .
The final goal of the contest came just before the half when Kyle Stephens knocked in a service off a Stevens corner kick. The first half ended without a shot by the Ranger offense compared to 11 by the Ducks.
Agata Dera (Wallington, N.J./Wallington) got her first career start in goal and made four saves in the loss. The Ranger offense opened up in the second half getting off six shots against just three by the Ducks.
The Rangers will get back to their Landmark Conference schedule on Saturday when they travel to Moravian for a 3:30 bout against the Greyhounds.
