#3 Otterbein Bests Rangers in Cyclone Classic

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (September 3, 2011) – Top-ranked Otterbein (2-0) handed Drew (0-2) its second loss in as many days with a 3-1 victory at the Centenary College Cyclone Classic this afternoon. The Rangers had an early lead erased by three second half goals by the Cardinals.

The Rangers registered the first goal of the game when sophomore Katie O'Keefe (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) sent a long ball into the box for Caroline Kuras (Allamuchy, N.J./Pope John XXIII) who split two defenders and beat the Cardinal keeper for her first goal of the fall.

The 1-0 Drew lead would last the rest of the frame and wouldn't be relented until the 55 minute mark when Morgan Hendrickson sent a shot to the top of the net to notch the game at one. A little under eight minutes later, Emily Bates put the Cardinals ahead on a pass from Rachel Denz.

The Ranger offense managed just two shots on net, both coming in the first half of play. Senior Dana DeBarros (East Hanover, N.J./Hanover Park) played all 90 minutes for the Rangers and made seven saves in the loss.

The Rangers will have the week off to prepare for their Annual Drew Fall Festival on Sept. 10 and 11. Drew will welcome in Johns Hopkins, Ramapo and Arcadia to Madison.
