Meet Results
KINGS POINT, N.Y. (January 14, 2012) – In the first Landmark Conference tri-meet of the season the Rangers defeated Goucher (2-10, 0-6 Landmark) by the score of 58-37. Drew (2-4, 1-2 Landmark) fell short in their decision against Merchant Marine, 69-39 as the Mariners went 2-0 on the afternoon.
Sophomore
Alexa Morrissey (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fontebonne Hall Academy) claimed first place in the 50 freestyle with a season-best time of 26.43. She went on to finish second in the 100 freestyle, just being out-touched by Mariner swimmer Casey Moore with a time of 58.52.
Fellow sophomore
Mariel Schwinger (Los Angeles, Calif./Sherman Oaks) was the only other Ranger to touch the wall first in the meet as she was the top finisher in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:34.49. In the 200 freestyle, she was less than a second off the top time of the meet with a time of 2:05.09, good for second place.
Jessica Harrington (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) was the second swimmer to touch the wall in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:08.71, three seconds off the first place time by Elizabeth Moore of the Mariners.
The Rangers closed the meet out on a high note with the fastest 400 freestyle relay time of the season. Morrissey,
Jackie King (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East), Harrington and
Jasmine Prokscha (Washington, Conn./Kent) were credited with first place with a time of 4:07.31.
The Rangers will take on two more Landmark opponents next Saturday when they travel to Selinsgrove, Pa. to take on Susquehanna and Juniata.
