Offense Explodes for Eight in Rout of CSI

Box Score STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (October 15, 2012) – A season-high, eight goals, propelled the Drew women's soccer team to an 8-1 victory over The College of Staten Island (8-5) this afternoon. The win evens the Rangers record to 6-6-2 on the season.

Freshman Emma Campbell (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill) continued her torrid scoring pace by scoring twice, upping her season total to 12. The first-year forward is now tied for the Landmark Conference lead in goals and is second in the league with 27 points.

The Rangers tallied the quickest goal of season, scoring only 33 seconds into the contest when Campbell centered a ball to senior Courtney Carnevale (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro) for her second goal of the year. In the 11th minute, Carnevale found sophomore Katie O'Keefe (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) to put the Rangers up 2-0.

Goals by Campbell and Mel Santos (Iselin, N.J./John F. Kennedy Memorial) capped off a four-goal first half and left the Rangers with a 14-3 advantage in shots.

The second half saw much of the same from the Ranger s offense. Junior Caroline Kuras (Allamuchy, N.J./Pope John XXIII) and Campbell scored within three minutes of each other midway through the second half and opened up 6-1 Drew lead.

Freshman Danielle Cowan (Staten Island, N.Y./Bay Ridge Prep) and junior Morgan Zwengler (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial) each notched their first career goals to round of the Drew scoring.

Three goalkeepers saw action in net for the Rangers with Agata Dera (Wallington, N.J./Wallinton) getting credit for the victory after making four saves. Sara Nash (Kingston, Wash./Kingston) and Valerie Bannan (Philadelphia, Pa./J.R. Masterman) saw their first action of the season and each recorded a save.

With the Rangers wrapping up a five-game road trip tonight, they return home on Wednesday to take on William Paterson at 4:30 p.m. They will play three of the final four games at Ranger Stadium.
