Rangers Lock Up Three Seed With Shutout of Cardinals

Box Score MADISON, N.J. (October 27, 2012) – A lone first half goal by freshman Emma Campbell (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill) stood as Drew (9-7-2, 3-1-2 Landmark) defeated Catholic (6-8-3, 2-2-2 Landmark) by the score of 1-0 on Senior Day in Ranger Stadium.

The victory clinches a Landmark Conference playoff berth for the second time in three seasons as the Rangers will enter the postseason as the third seed. The Rangers will play second-seeded Moravian in a Landmark Conference semifinal at 3:00 p.m. in Bethlehem, Pa.

Campbell netted her 15th goal of the season in the 28th minute off a pass from Katie O'Keefe (Shamong, N.J./Seneca). The sophomore sent a long ball from the midfield that Campbell was able to chase down and beat the Cardinal goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation. The assist was O'Keefe's team-leading fifth of the season.

The Rangers defense put together stout performance allowing only two shots on goal. Senior Kim Jaikissoon (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) saved both shots and earned her fourth shutout of the season. She now has 12 shutouts on her career which is good for sixth all-time.

Catholic ended up with an 11-10 advantage on shots and the two teams each took four corner kicks on the afternoon.

With impending weather in the Mid-Atlantic region, it is encouraged to check back for any time or location changes on Wednesday's semifinal game.
