Rangers Fall to Greyhounds in PK Shootout

Box Score SCRANTON Pa. (November 3, 2012) – Moravian (10-7-2) and Drew (9-7-3) played to a scoreless tie after 110 minutes of soccer this afternoon. The Greyhounds advanced to the conference championship after winning, 4-3 in a penalty kick shootout.

The game officially goes in the books as a tie but with the game taking place in the postseason the contest was determined by a shootout.

The 110 minutes of soccer was about as even as it could possibly get. Drew held a slight, 13-11 advantage in shots but both teams had the same amount of saves and corner kicks. The only shot on goal of both overtimes came off the foot of Ranger midfielder, Katie O'Keefe (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) which was saved by Greyhound keeper, Tori Korona.

Each team would have five attempts in the shootout to try and win the game. Drew made 3-of-5 while Moravian made 4-of-5 to advance to the Landmark Conference Championship game. Junior Michelle Malone (Rochelle Park, N.J./Paramus Catholic), O'Keefe and Alexa Kogan (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor Plainsboro-North) were all successful on their penalty kick tries.
Senior Kim Jaikissson (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) made two saves for the Rangers and earned her fifth shutout of the season.

The Rangers will wait for a potential ECAC Tournament bid on Monday. The Rangers won the program's first ECAC-Metro title in 2010.
