Rangers Advance to Semis of ECAC Tournament

Box Score WAYNE, N.J. – Drew (10-7-3) avenged a double OT loss from earlier this fall by eliminating William Paterson (9-9-2) from the ECAC Tournament this evening with a 3-1 victory at the Pioneer Soccer Park.

The Rangers advance to play in the semifinals at top-seeded Richard Stockton Saturday, Nov. 10.  The game time has not yet been announced.

Following a scoreless first half, the Rangers broke through in the 55th minute.  Senior Courtney Carnevale (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro) sent a ball up to junior Caroline Kuras (Allamuchy, N.J./Pope John XVIII), who took a long shot across to the left side of the goal.  William Paterson keeper Alyssa Falduto got her hands on it but could not stop it from crossing the goal line, handing Drew a 1-0 lead.

Nearly 21 minutes later, freshman Emma Campbell (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill) cleaned up a loose ball when Falduto stopped the initial shot off the foot of Katie O'Keefe (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) at the 76:44 mark. Campbell is now just one goal shy of tying the school record for goals in a season by a freshman.

O'Keefe launched a corner kick to the center of the box in the 83rd minute and Carnevale was able to knock it into the back of the net for a 3-0 margin.

Pioneer senior Michelle Marabondo, who scored the game-winner against the Rangers back on October 17th, netted her 24th goal of the season with 1:03 remaining, finishing a long run up the right flank when she beat Drew keeper Kim Jaikissoon (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) 1-on-1 to the left side of the net.

Jaikissoon put forth an outstanding effort in front of the net for the Rangers making 10 stops en route to her 10th victory of the season.

A time for Saturday's ECAC Semifinal match will be announced later this week.
