Rangers Hang on For Second Landmark Win

MADISON, N.J. (April 21, 2012) – Drew (8-7, 2-1 Landmark) withstood a late run by Scranton (11-5, 1-2 Landmark) in an 11-10 victory at Ranger Stadium this afternoon.  Senior Aileen Musynske (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park) scored a game-high four goals and added an assist to lead the Ranger attack.

The Royals came all the way back from a three-goal deficit in the first half and nearly completed another comeback in the final minutes of the game.. Drew built a 3-0 lead at right out of the gate only to have the Royals come all the way back and tie the game at six just before halftime. Drew once again came out firing in the second half, rattling four-straight goals to take a 10-6 lead.

Scranton put together their final run of the contest scoring three goals in eight minutes to crawl within a goal with 12:08 to play. Musynske connected for what proved to be the game-winner on a free-position shot with 9:20 left in the game to give the Rangers an 11-9 advantage. A late goal by Emily Goss got the Royals within a goal but the Royals could not connect on their final four shots including one from close range as time expired.

Ranger goaltender Christiana Carlini (Amherst, N.H./Bishop Guertin) made five saves and caused three turnovers from her position in front of the cage. The Rangers outshot the Royals 32-21 in the contest and won the draw control battle, 11-10.

Junior Devon Affleck (Abington, Pa./Abington) netted two of her five shots while midfielder Jess Johnson (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown Senior) also scored twice to help pace the Drew offense. Senior Lyndsay Rossi (Pennington, N.J./Pennington School) collected a team-high five ground balls and added two assists to go along with her 34th goal of the season.

The Rangers will take on Susquehanna in Ranger Stadium at 1:00 p.m. next weekend to see who will host the semifinals of the upcoming Landmark Conference playoffs.
Drew has clinched a postseason spot for the fifth-straight season and have been in the conference championship game the past three years.
