MADISON, N.J. (April 7, 2012) – The Rangers fell behind 2-1 in doubles play to Juniata (6-7, 0-2 Landmark) but came back to win all six singles matches to defeat the Eagles, 7-2 this afternoon. The win is the second of the week as they improve to 5-3 on year and 3-1 in the Landmark Conference.
Junior
Chelsea Lipp (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) and freshman
Deanna Williams (Fairfield, Calif./Gorin Tennis Academy) salvaged the only win in doubles, pulling out an 8-2 victory in the number two position. The pair won its second doubles match of the season and made the score 2-1 in favor of Juniata going into singles play.
Lipp won her second singles match of the week in the number one position, 6-2, 6-1 over Lisa Hauptman. Five of the six singles matches were won by the Rangers in straight sets including a 6-1, 6-1 victory by
Sarit Ashkenazi (Haifa, Israel/Immaculate Conception) at number two singles.
Senior
Cristine Conde (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) kept her winning streak alive with a three set thriller that had her prevail 10-7 in the final tiebreaker to win her fourth-straight match at number six singles.
The Rangers will travel to Wayne, N.J. on Thursday for a non-conference bout with William Paterson. The match is slated to begin at 4:30 p.m.
