Quick Start Powers Drew to Third Win

Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa. (September 15, 2012) – Drew (3-2) scored three first-half goals aiding them in a 3-2 road win over DeSales (3-3-1) this afternoon. Freshman Emma Campbell (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill) scored twice including the eventual game-winner in the 24th minute.

The Rangers built a 2-0 lead in the first seven minutes thanks to goals from Campbell and junior Caroline Kuras (Allamuchy, N.J./Pope John XXIII). Just 4:16 into the game Campbell launched a shot from 30 yards away that went over the outstretched hands of Bulldog goalkeeper Michelle Churchman. A little over two minutes later Kuras notched her third goal of the fall, scoring off her own rebound.

In Drew's only corner kick of the half, Kuras served a ball into Campbell who scored her second of the game and put the Rangers up 3-0 with 21:15 remaining in the half.

After a sluggish first half that produced only one shot on goal, the Bulldogs offense made the game interesting with two goals in the final 22 minutes of the game. Taylor Batcsics and Ariel Merkt were credited with the late DeSales goals.

The Bulldogs were only able to get off two shots after their final goal in the 87th minute, one which was saved by Jeramie Barletta (Madison, N.J./Madison).  A trio of goaltenders helped the Rangers improve to 2-0 on the road this year. Senior Kim Jaikissoon (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) got the start and made one save in 45 minutes of work. Junior Agata Dera (Wallington, N.J./Wallinton) played the first 30:40 of the second half and did not see a shot on goal. Barletta was credited with one save in a little over 14 minutes of action.

The Rangers will look to improve to 3-0 on the road when they travel to Manhattanville on Wednesday night. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. in Purchase, N.Y.
