GENEVA, N.Y. (September 24, 2012) – Four members of the Drew women's tennis team traveled up to Hobart and William Smith Colleges this weekend to take part in the Northeast ITA Regional Championships.
Competing against some of the top players in the region, the Rangers failed to record a victory in five singles matches and one doubles match. Freshman
Sarah White (Seattle, Wash./Bishop Blanchet) had the best showing of the quartet, nearly coming away with a victory in the consolation bracket. White lost 8-1 in the championships round and was edged by Casey Olsen, 8-6 in the her final match of the weekend.
Senior
Chelsea Lipp (Old Lyme, Conn./Old Lyme) and
Deanna Williams (Fairfield, Calif./Gorin Tennis Academy) were the only doubles pairing to compete and fell to Lauren Stauffer and Winifred Yeates of Vassar, 8-4.
The Rangers will conclude their fall season with the
NJAIAW Championships on October 6-7.
