Box Score MADISON, N.J. (September 26, 2012) – The 25
th ranked Stevens Ducks (7-1) narrowly escaped with a 1-0 win over Drew (3-4-1) this evening at Ranger Stadium.
The only goal of the night came off the foot of Carly Bean, very early in the contest. The Ducks were awarded a corner kick in the 8
th minute and the ball rattled around in the box before settling at the feet of Bean who was waiting on the far post. The goal was the freshman's fourth of the fall.
The biggest opportunity for the Rangers came in the 25
th minute when Stevens was called for a foul in the box that resulted in the penalty kick. The free try, taken by senior
Courtney Carnevale (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro), rung off the right post just out of the reach of Duck goalkeeper Teegan Kelly.
In net for the Rangers, was
Kim Jaikissoon (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia), who put forth a career effort. The senior made 15 saves, the most by a Drew goalie since 2007.
The Rangers will be back in action on Saturday for Landmark Conference play against Moravian. The Drew women will kick-off a Landmark soccer doubleheader at 1:00 p.m. in Ranger Stadium.
