Rangers Shut Out Raptors in Fall Fest Opener

Rastelli notched her first career goal in the win.
Box Score MADISON, N.J. (September 8, 2012) – In the opening game of the 11th Annual Drew Women's Soccer Fall Fest, Drew (2-1) defeated Rutgers-Newark (1-2) by the score of 2-0 in Ranger Stadium this afternoon.

A rain-soaked first half saw only one goal, which came off the foot of freshman Allison Rastelli (Pennsville N.J./Pennsville Memorial). Sophomore Caroline Kuras (Allamuchy, N.J./Pope John XXIII) took the ball down the right side of the field and centered the ball to Courtney Carnevale (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro) who one-touched a pass to Rastelli's right foot.

Fellow freshman Emma Campbell (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill) got in on the scoring action in the second half with her second score of the season. Campbell freed herself from a defender well beyond the 18 and buried a shot into the upper right hand corner of the net.

Senior goalkeeper Kim Jaikissooon (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) was credited with her ninth career shutout, making just two saves on the afternoon. Her counterpart, Laura West, faced a total of 22 Drew shots, making nine saves.

The Rangers will play in the Fall Fest Championship game against the winner of Arcadia and Vassar at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.
