MADISON, N.J. (January 12, 2013) – The Drew women's swim team defeated Goucher College (1-10, 0-6) 65-30 this afternoon but fell to Merchant Marine (5-2, 2-1 Landmark) in a Landmark Conference tri-meet at F.M. Kirby Pool. The Rangers move to 2-6 overall and 1-3 within the Landmark Conference.
The Merchant Marine Mariners went 2-0 on the day and had a first place finisher in nine of the 11 events including both relays. The Rangers captured wins in the other two events, courtesy of
Jess Harrington (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) and
Mariel Schwinger (Los Angeles, Calif./Sherman Oaks). Harrington was the first to touch the wall in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.56 and Schwinger finished first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 58.62.
The Rangers finished 1-2 in the 50 freestyle as
Alexa Morrissey (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall Academy) came in right behind Harrington with a time of 27.24.
Drew will be on the road for the final Landmark tri-meet of the season when they travel to Huntingdon, Pa. to face Juniata and Susquehanna on Saturday.
