Rangers Bury Gophers, Set New School Record

Box Score Madison, N.J. (October 19, 2013)—The Drew University women's soccer team (12-1) defeated Goucher College (4-9-1), 3-1 this afternoon at Ranger Stadium. Today's victory marked the 10th consecutive win for the Rangers, setting a new school record.

Sophomore Mel Santos (Iselin, N.J./John F. Kennedy Memorial) got the Rangers on the board in the 27th minute with a header that snuck just underneath the crossbar off a free kick from senior Katie O'Keefe (Shamong, N.J./Senaca). Goucher answered with a goal of their own less than a minute later from Moriah Sipiczky. The teams entered the half tied 1-1.

The Rangers added two more goals in the second half, the first coming from sophomore Emma Campbell (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill) who collected a lead ball from O'Keefe and beat the goalkeeper to the bottom right corner of the goal. Liz Loiodice (Forest Hill, Md./John Carroll) scored her team leading 11th goal of the season from the top of the box off a corner kick taken by classmate Caroline Kuras (Allamuchy, N.J./Pope John XXIII).

Senior Agata Dera (Wallington, N.J./Wallington) started in net for the Rangers making three saves and allowing one goal. Sophomore Sara Nash (Kingston, Wash./Kingston) collected her seventh win of the season for the Rangers starting the second half making one save and holding the Gopher attack scoreless.

Senior Katie O'Keefe with her second assist of the game tallied the 21st of her career, placing her 2nd on Drew's all-time assist list. Sophomore Emma Campbell scored her 26th career goal moving her into 7th all-time.

The Rangers return to action on Wednesday night as the travel to Newark, N.J. for a match with in-state rival Rutgers-Newark. Last season the Rangers defeated Rutgers-Newark 4-1 and holds the all-time series lead 2-0.
