Big First Half Keeps Shorewomen Undefeated

Box Score MADISON, N.J. (March 23, 2013) – The Drew women's lacrosse team surrendered 15 first half goals to Washington College (Md.) en route to a 20-12 loss at Ranger Stadium this afternoon. The Rangers even their record to 4-4 on the season as Washington improves to 7-0 on the year.

The Shorewomen never trailed in the contest, scoring nine of the game's first 10 goals. The Rangers who haven't surrendered more than 14 goals in game this season, found themselves trailing 15-6 at halftime.

Washington midfielder, Molly Shipley totaled nine points on the afternoon, dishing off six assists and scoring three times. Sophomore Emily Hubley scored a team-high six goals with five of them coming in the first half of play. Kathleen Maleski also helped pace the Washington attack, netting a hat trick and scooping up four draw controls.

Sophomore Nikki Kleiman (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) continued her torrent scoring pace, netting six goals and registering her eighth assist on the season. The midfielder has scored six or more goals in all but two games this spring and leads the Landmark Conference with 46 goals. Classmate Krysta Cento (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) netted her sixth hat trick of 2013 and also recorded her eighth assist of the season.

The Rangers defense slowed down the Washington attack in the final 30 minutes enabling them to outscore Washington, 6-5 in the second half. The Shorewomen held a 22-12 advantage off the draw and outshot the Rangers 37-30.

Washington goalkeeper, Stephanie Seibert made six saves to earn her seventh win of the season. Ranger netminder, CC Carlini (Amherst, N.H./Bishop Guertin) made nine saves and suffered her fourth loss this season.

Junior Kaitlyn Dalziel (Ocean Township, N.J./Ocean Twp.) recorded her first career goal on a free position attempt in the second half. Brooke Gagliano (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Twp.) and Larkin Dolan (Morristown, N.J./The Hill School) each had a score to round out the Ranger attack.

The Rangers will open up Landmark Conference play on Thursday when they travel to Selinsgrove, Pa. to take on #13 Susquehanna at 6:00 p.m.
