Cardinals’ Big Run Hands Rangers Third-Straight Loss

Box Score MADISON, N.J. (April 6, 2013) – The Catholic University Cardinals (6-5, 2-0 Landmark) scored 12 unanswered goals between the first and second halves, powering them to a 17-11 victory over the Drew women's lacrosse team. The Rangers fall to 4-6 on the season and 0-2 in the Landmark Conference.

The Rangers jumped out to a 3-1 lead over the first 10 minutes of play. After the 12-straight goals by Catholic, the Rangers scored six of the next seven goals but it was not enough to catch the hot-shooting Catholic squad.

The Drew offense was highlighted by Krysta Cento (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) and Nikki Kleiman (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) who each recorded a hat trick. Kleiman upped her season goal total to 51, tops amongst all Landmark Conference goal scorers. Cento added an assist and scooped up a team-high five ground balls.

The Cardinals attack was paced by Lindsay Brophy and Caroline DiBartolomeo who each netted five goals in the contest. Kelly Neligan picked up a game-high six ground balls in the game.

The two teams got off a total of 31 shots apiece and the Rangers recorded 17 draw controls compared to 13 by the Cardinals. Catholic was able to force 19 Drew turnovers and tallied nine more ground balls than the Rangers.

Drew netminder, CC Carlini (Amherst, N.H./Bishop Guertin) made 13 saves including seven in the second half.

The Cardinals win their fifth-straight game against Drew and her now 8-1 all-time against the blue and green. The two teams squared off three times in the Landmark Conference championship game from 2009 to 2012.

The Rangers will travel down to Rowan University on Tuesday for a non-conference tilt scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in Glassboro, N.J.
