Box Score GLASSBORO, N.J. (April 9, 2013) – The Rowan University Profs (6-5) scored seven-straight goals to end the first half in a 19-11 victory over the Drew University women's lacrosse team this evening. The Rangers have dropped their last four games and fall to 4-7 on the season.
Sophomore
Nikki Kleiman (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) scored her 100
th career goal early in the second half, becoming the 18
th player in Drew women's lacrosse history to reach the century mark in goals. She finished the game with a team-high six goals and three draw controls. It marks the seventh time this season she has scored six or more goals.
Classmate
Krysta Cento (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) tallied six points, scoring three goals and assisting on three others. She remains atop the Landmark Conference with 19 assists on the season. Junior
Brooke Gagliano (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Twp.) scored the Rangers' other two goals, converting on two of her three shots in the game.
The Profs were lead by Becca Wood, who scored a game-high seven goals. She also notched her 100
th goal in her second season on her seventh goal of the night early in the second half. Midfielder Jamie Blondina found the back of the net four times. Marissa Micciche and Vicky Sucharski each added three apiece to round out the Rowan scoring.
Drew took its only lead with 19:55 to play early in the first half on Kleiman's first score of the night. The Profs responded with four goals over the next 3:55 and did not relinquish the lead for the rest of the game.
The Rangers made the score 7-5 when Kleiman converted a Cento pass with 13:59 to play in the first. The Profs scored the next eight goals, putting the game out of reach. The Rangers did outscore the Profs 6-5 in the second half.
Rowan was dominant off the draw, claiming 25 of the 32 draw controls. The Profs held a slight edge, 29-27 in groundballs and fired a total of 40 shots compared to 25 by the Rangers.
Junior
CC Carlini (Amherst, N.H./Bishop Guertin) made 16 saves and scooped up two ground balls in a losing effort. Senior
Kaitlyn Dalziel (Ocean Twp., N.J./Ocean Twp.) had a monster game on defense, picking up a game-high six ground balls and caused two turnovers.
The Rangers will head north this weekend for a two-game stint in the Boston area. The Rangers will play MIT on Saturday in Cambridge at 1:00 p.m. and travel over to Wheaton College on Sunday to take on Wheaton in Norton at 1:00 p.m.
