Box Score SELINSGROVE, Pa. (May 1, 2013) – The Drew University women's lacrosse team saw its season come to a close today after a 24-11 loss to #11 Susquehanna (16-0) this afternoon in the first round of the Landmark Conference playoffs. The Rangers finish the year with a record of 8-10.
The Crusaders exploded for 15 goals in the first half and advance to the Landmark Conference Championship game against Catholic University on Saturday. The game will be a rematch of the 2012 title game where Catholic won its fifth consecutive championship.
Sophomores
Krysta Cento (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) and
Nikki Kleiman (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) combined for nine of the Rangers 11 goals. Kleiman scored on five of her eight shots and picked up a team-high six draw controls. She finishes her record-breaking year with 88 goals and 110 points. Cento found the back of the net four times and dished off two assists. Her 45 assists on the year are the fourth most ever by a Drew women's lacrosse player.
The Crusader attack was led by a pair of seven-goal scorers. Emma Ehler registered nine points in the contest, scoring seven times and assisting on two other Crusader goals. She had a game-high six ground balls and tracked down five draw controls. Michelle McGuinness also scored seven times and recorded an assist. She scooped up five ground balls and had a game-high nine draw controls.
The game did not start off the way the final scored indicated. After scoring the first goal, Susquehanna found themselves down, 4-1 after a pair of goals by Kleiman and scores from both
Alexandra Mattiace (Montville, N.J./Montville Twp.) and
Larkin Dolan (Morristown, N.J./The Hill School). The Crusaders recuperated by rattling off the next five goals to take a 6-4 lead with 11:31 remaining in the first.
In the final 10:27 of the first half, the Rangers were outscored 9-2, enabling Susquehanna to take a 15-7 lead into the half.
The furious scoring pace didn't stop in the second half, as the Crusaders ripped off eight of the first nine goals, opening up a 23-8 advantage with 12:45 remaining in the game.
The Rangers were outshot 38-22 in the game and turned the ball over 23 times compared to just 15 by the Crusaders. Susquehanna held a slight edge in draw controls, coming up with 20 while the Rangers were able to collect 17 in the game.

CC Carlini (Amherst, N.H./Bishop Guertin) made a game high eight saves and was credited was credited with three ground balls.
