Box Score MADISON, N.J. (September 14, 2013)-- The Drew Women's Soccer team (4-1) defeated the Bulldogs of DeSales University (3-1-2) this afternoon at Ranger Stadium, 2-1. Seniors
Liz Loiodice (Forest Hill, Md./John Carroll) and
Katie O'Keefe (Shamong, N.J./Senaca) scored one goal each for the Rangers in their victory.
The Rangers were in control for most of the first half taking 11 shots, four of which coming off the foot of Loiodice. The teams entered the half tied, 0-0.
Just nine minutes into the start of the second half DeSales forward Alyssa Borgesi found the back of the net after collecting the rebound of her own blocked shot. The Rangers scored the next two goals of the game. The first coming on a penalty kick taken by Loiodice in the 66th minute. O'Keefe added her goal three minutes later on a shot from 15 yards out off an assist from senior
Bridget McRory (Howell, N.J./Howell).
Sophomore
Sara Nash (Kingston, Wash./Kingston) got the start for the Rangers in goal making three saves without allowing a goal. Freshman
Andee Higgins (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro) made her first appearance of the season making three saves allowing one goal.
The Rangers return to the pitch on Tuesday September 17 at 7:00 p.m. in Ranger Stadium as the take on Manhattanville. Drew holds the all-time series lead 11-3-1 over the Valiants.
