Campbell's Two Goals Lift Rangers Over Cardinals

Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 28, 2013)-- Sophomore Emma Campbell (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill) scored two goals as the Drew women's soccer team (8-1) defeated Catholic (5-5), 2-1 this afternoon in the conference opener. The Rangers have won six-consecutive games and at 8-1 are off to the best start since 1997.

Catholic jumped out to an early 1-0 lead scoring a goal 10 minutes into the game when a cross off the foot of Kate Masson deflected off a Drew defender and trickled in for an own goal. The Rangers controlled most of the first half, outshooting Catholic, 4-2. Campbell scored her first goal of the game with 13 minutes left in the first half as she dribbled past a defender and beat the goalie to the right post. The Rangers and Cardinals entered halftime tied at one.

Just 15 minutes after the start of the second half Campbell scored her second goal of the game which was the eventual game-winner. Campbell collected the ball at midfield, dribbled around two Catholic defenders and beat the goalie again to the right post. With the second goal of the game Campbell scored the 23rd goal of her career tying her for 10th all-time with Shinobu Bharaj C'04.

Sophomore Sara Nash (Kingston, Wash./Kingston) started in goal for the Rangers. Nash made one save and allowed one goal in her sixth win on the season.

The Rangers will be back in action on Saturday, October 5th as they return home to Ranger Stadium and host Susquehanna in another conference showdown.
