Rangers Fall Short in Home Opener

Box Score MADISON, N.J. (September 7, 2013)— The Rutgers-Camden Scarlet Raptors (1-2) defeated the Drew Women's Soccer team (2-1) in a double overtime thriller by a score of 1-0 in the opening match of the 12th Annual Drew Fall Festival this afternoon at Ranger Stadium.

The lone goal of the contest came just one minute and eight seconds into the second overtime period on a header from Michelle Barbone off the corner kick cross by Sarah Kooistra.

The Rangers outshot the Scarlet Raptors 27-7. The best opportunity for the Rangers came from sophomore Emma Campbell (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill) who collected the rebound of her own blocked shot and followed with a shot that hit the cross-bar as time expired in the first overtime period.

Sophomore Goalkeeper Sara Nash (Kingston, Wash./Kingston) played all 101 minutes for the Rangers and made three saves in the loss.

The Rangers return to action tomorrow for game two of Fall Fest with a match against the Ramapo College Roadrunners at 2:00 p.m. in Ranger Stadium.
