Women's Soccer Falls to Catholic in Landmark Match

Box Score MADISON, N.J. (Oct. 11, 2014) – The Drew University women's soccer team was shut out by The Catholic University of America, 4-0, in Landmark Conference action on Saturday at Ranger Stadium.

The Rangers fall to 4-8 on the season and 1-2 in the Landmark Conference while the Cardinals (9-1-2) remain perfect in the league with a 3-0 mark. Catholic used a 23-4 advantage in shots and goals from four different players to come away with the Landmark victory on the road.

Drew threatened with a quick start as junior forward Emma Campbell curled a shot from near the baseline that missed just wide of the far post. Campbell would take two of Drew's four shots on Saturday and the only of them on target.

Junior goalkeeper Sara Nash worked hard to keep the Cardinals grounded with eight saves in the first half. Catholic would break through, however, in the 34th minute when a loose ball off a corner kick was cleaned up for the 1-0 lead. Catholic made quick work of extending the lead with a goal just four minutes later on a long shot that hit the upper 90s of the goal.

The Cardinals maintained advantages in possession and offensive chances in the second half, leading to a third goal in the 58th minute after executing a back angle pass and the well-placed shot for the 3-0 lead. Catholic got its fourth with just 11 seconds left on the clock.

Drew resumes Landmark Conference play on Wednesday, Oct. 15 with a trip to The University of Scranton at 7:00 p.m.
