James' Career-High 19 Saves Helps Rangers to Fourth Straight Win

Box Score Hoboken, N.J. (March 19, 2014) – The Drew University women's lacrosse team won its fourth consecutive game this afternoon with a, 12-8 victory over Stevens Tech. This was the first Ranger win over Stevens since 2008.

Krysta Cento (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) continued her hot start to the season scoring four goals for the Rangers in the victory. The junior midfielder added an assist to tally five points on the day. Classmate Nikki Kleiman (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) scored three goals and dished out two assists for Drew in the win.

Stevens scored the game's first goal at the 27:19 mark of the first half when Kathleen Klabian scored her 14th goal of the season. The Rangers responded a little over a minute later on Cento's first goal of the game. Drew scored the next two goals, one from Kleiman and one from freshman Anna Fiorini (Bethel, Conn./Bethel), to take a, 3-1 lead with 21:14 left to play in the first half. The Ducks countered scoring the next three goals of the game before Cento scored her second of the day tying the game at four with 6:06 left in the half. The two teams would combine for seven goals in the final five minutes of the first half, with Drew taking an, 8-7 lead into halftime.

The Rangers scored first in the second half behind Cento's fourth goal of the game. Drew scored the next two goals, one from Kleiman and the other from Morgan Mason (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) who finished the game with two goals. With 18:42 left in the game the Rangers lead Stevens 11-7. The Ducks scored their only goal of the second half when Kara Rafferty scored her 17th goal of the season at the 7:46. Senior Jess Johnson (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown Senior) scored the final goal of the game just a little over a minute later to give the Rangers a, 12-8 lead.

Freshman goalkeeper Jadin James (Farmington, Conn./Farmington) made her third start of the season in goal for the Rangers. In the victory, James allowed eight goals while registering a career-high 19 saves on the way to her third win of the season.

The Rangers return to action on Saturday March 22 at 1:00 p.m. in Ranger Stadium. Drew will host the United States Merchant Marine Academy in a Landmark Conference contest.
