Rangers Second Half Rally Falls Short

Box Score Madison, N.J. (March 29, 2014) – The Drew women's lacrosse team (6-3, 2-1) suffered its first conference loss of the season this afternoon to Susquehanna, 16-15 here at Ranger Stadium.
 
Freshman Charlotte Brown (Rumford, R.I./St. Mary Academy Bay View) led Drew in scoring with five goals on the afternoon. Brown was a perfect 5-for-5 shooting for the Rangers. Junior Krysta Cento (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) continued her stellar play scoring three goals and dishing out five assists for Drew in the loss.
 
The Rangers started the scoring at the 28:36 mark in the first half when freshman Morgan Mason (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) blew by her defender and beat the goalie high over her right shoulder. The Rangers jumped out to a 2-0 lead two minutes later when Cento scored her first of the day. The Crusaders scored the next four goals of the game taking a 4-2 lead with just over 20 minutes left in the half. The Rangers pulled back within one, 4-3 less than a minute on a goal from senior Jess Johnson (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown Senior). Susquehanna outscored Drew 6-3 in the final 16 minutes of the half to take a 10-6 lead into the break.
 
The Rangers scored the opening goal of the second half  with 27:11 left to play as Mason found a cutting Nikki Kleiman (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) for her second goal of the game. Brown scored her second goal of the game pulling the Rangers within two (10-8) with just under 26 minutes left to go. Emma Elher ended the Rangers scoring streak with her fifth and sixth goals of the game putting Susquehanna back up by four at 12-8.
 
Trailing 15-10 with 16:39 the Rangers began a five-goal rally that showcased three goals from Brown and would eventually tie the game 15-15 on a Brooke Gagliano (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Twp.) goal with 5:15 left to play. Michelle McGinniss scored her sixth and the game's final goal with 3:17 left in the game, giving Suquehanna a 16-15 lead.
 
Freshman Jadin James (Farmington, Conn./Farmington) made her fourth career start in net for the Rangers this afternoon. James allowed 13 goals and made nine saves in the loss for Drew. Freshman Gianna Minogue (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) played the final 24 minutes in net for the Rangers. Minogue surrendered three goals and made six saves in a losing effort.
 
Drew returns to action on Saturday April 5 at 12:00 p.m. as they host conference foe Elizabethtown in Ranger Stadium.
