Box Score Madison, N.J. (April 17, 2014) – The Drew University women's lacrosse team (9-4) suffered its first loss in the month of April this afternoon to Colorado College (13-3), 17-14 here at Ranger Stadium. With a victory this afternoon the Tigers pulled the all-time series even with each team having notched two wins.
Junior midfielder
Nikki Kleiman finished the evening scoring nine points on six goals and three assists. Kleiman recorded her 10th hat-trick of the season in the loss.
Krysta Cento finished the game shooting 50 percent, scoring three goals on six shots. The junior midfielder added six assists, scooped up four ground balls and caused a team-high two turnovers.
Cento and Kleiman had a hand in each of the first five goals for the Rangers pushing the team out to an early 5-0 lead with just over 15 minutes left to play in the first half. Kleiman scored her first of the night off an assist from Cento at the 18:39 mark of the period. The assist tallied the 200th career point for Cento. The Tigers would respond with a mini-run of their own to cut the Drew lead to three, 5-2 with 13:26 left in the half. Senior
Brooke Gagliano answered with her first of the night stopping the run and giving Drew a 6-2.
Colorado scored the next four goals of the game over a four-minute span to tie the game 6-6. On the run Sadie Cole scored her second of five goals on the night. The teams traded goals to the end of the half with, Kleiman netting the final goal of the half with :43 seconds remaining to give the Rangers a 9-8 lead heading to the half.
The Tigers opened the half scoring the first goal just two minutes in when Molly Lyons drove passed her defender and fired a shot the beat the Drew goalie to the upper-right corner. Colorado College would score the next four goals of the game to open up a 13-9 lead with 20:23 left in the game. Cento highlighted a furious Ranger comeback with one goal and three assists that would tie the game 13-13 with 14:40 left to play. On the Drew run freshman
Anna Fiorini would score her 15th and 16th goals of the season off assists from Cento. The Tigers again went on a four-goal unanswered streak to take a 17-13 advantage before Kleiman would score the games final goal.
Freshman goalkeeper
Gianna Minogue made her seventh start of the season in net for the Rangers this afternoon. Minogue allowed 12 goals and made a career-best 12 saves in 41 minutes of action for Drew. Classmate
Jadin James played 19 minutes in goal for Drew making four saves in the loss.
Drew returns to action on Saturday April 19 at 12:00 p.m. in the opening game of a men's and women's Landmark doubleheader. The Rangers play host to Goucher College and will honor five seniors who will play their final regular season game at Ranger Stadium.
