Box Score

MADISON, N.J. (April 17, 2014) – The Drew University women's tennis team closed out the 2013-14 season with a 9-0 setback to The Catholic University of America on Thursday at the Drew Tennis Complex.

The Rangers celebrated senior day on the last day of the regular season, and two players called it a career on the Madison courts.

Sofia Madrigal and Leslie Monroy each played their last match wearing the Blue and Green, and fought hard to the very last game, set and match of their collegiate careers.

"Sofia and Leslie were known for playing as hard as they can throughout their entire careers here at Drew," said head coach Matthew Brisotti. "They did that again today. The entire program would like to thank them for their dedication and enthusiasm to Ranger tennis over the years."

Madrigal battled to a 6-3 loss in the first set of her first singles match against her Cardinal foe, and dropped the second 6-0. The senior teamed up with junior Deanna Williams in an 8-3 defeat at the top doubles spot.

Williams pushed Elaina Sceusa of Catholic to the brink at second singles. Catholic pulled the point from the singles match in a third set superbreaker. Williams fell 6-1 in set No. 1, before battling back to take the second 7-6 after winning the tiebreaker 7-3.

Sceusa prevailed in a tight superbreaker, 10-6, to earn the point for Catholic.

Sophomore Kirby Clark finished an improved second season at Drew with a 6-2, 6-2 loss at fifth singles.
