Box ScoreMADISON, N.J. (April 11, 2015) – The Drew University women's tennis team grabbed a doubles victory and four singles matches for a sunny Senior Day overall victory 5-4 over Susquehanna University on Saturday afternoon.
Senior
Deanna Williams celebrated her special day by combining with junior
Kirby Clark to win their doubles match 8-6.
Sophomore
Megan Jarvis participated in an electrifying three-set battle that scored 1-6, 6-3, 1-0 (14-12) with Jarvis barely getting edged in the tiebreaker.
Senior
Alexandra Scarborough made her presence felt by hanging tough but falling in her singles match 7-5, 6-3.
Clark, in singles play clinched the victory in the sixth singles by throwing up a 6-3, 6-3 score for the Rangers (4-5, 1-3). With her victory, Clark pushed Drew over Susquehanna (7-3, 1-3) and notched the program's first conference victory since April 14
th, 2012.
In the third singles, sophomore
Jessica Cheng came from behind to take a three-set victory with the final two sets going 6-1 and 6-2 to seal the resilient win for Cheng.
Junior
Katie Marshall emerged victorious from the second singles with a 7-5, 6-2 win.
Williams returned to action as an individual to grab a 6-2, 6-4 win to kick off singles play.
Drew will host the University of Scranton on Sunday, April 11
th at 1:00 p.m.
