ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. (March 25, 2017) – The Drew University women's tennis team garnered a historic win at two-time Landmark Conference champion Elizabethtown College, winning 6-3 to snap a 47-match regular season conference dual match winning streak.

The Blue Jays, who competed in the MAC Commonwealth Conference before heading to the Landmark for the 2014-15 season, last lost a regular season dual match on Sept. 20, 2008. The Rangers have now won seven matches in a row overall and start league competition 1-0.

The difference came in the final doubles match to finish at No. 1. With the match tied 1-1, sophomore
Ty Ty Witten and
Ashley Camel fought to an 8-6 win at the top spot to send Drew to singles play up 2-1. Freshmen
Cristina Riccio and
Christina Christodoulou have the Rangers the early lead with an 8-2 victory at No. 3 doubles.

Camel and Witten then increased the lead, 4-1, with straight-set victories at first and second singles, respectively. E-town looked as if it was rebounding with wins at third and fourth singles, leaving it up to either the No. 5 or 6 spot to clinch the win for Drew.

Senior
Megan Jarvis at No. 5 and junior
Kathryn Swenor at sixth singles both ended up winning full three-set matches to put an end to the Jays' historic streak. Jarvis won 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 to officially clinch the match after coming back in two different sets. She was down 4-0 in the first before coming back to win 7-5.

Swenor's three-set win also featured a comeback in the final set. She was down 5-2 before rattling five straight games to take the match, 6-2, 3-6, 7-5.

The Rangers look to make it eight in a row when Landmark play resumes at home on Saturday, April 1 against Moravian College at 1:00 p.m.
